Are you between 8 and 16 years old?Do you like climbing and want to improve, get
fit, and have fun? Then join our youth
program!
We will be running three programs a year through the fall,
winter and spring seasons, with a break in the summer. No experience is necessary, all levels are
welcome.Programs are 12 weeks long,
with two sessions each week.Each
session is 2 hours long.We have the
youth climbers split into two groups:
8 – 11 year olds climb Thursdays 4:15 to 6:15, Sundays 10 to
noon
12 – 16 year olds climb Wednesdays 4:15 to 6:15, Sundays 10
to noon
On Sundays both groups climb together and we have the entire
gym to ourselves as the gym doesn’t open up to the public until noon!
Our upcoming program begins on September 15th and
will run for 24 sessions, finishing up just before the Christmas Holidays (with
breaks for Thanksgiving, and a competition in October.)The program costs $299 plus tax, and it
includes:
- Free shoe and harness rentals for all sessions ($192
value)
Having their own gear can improve comfort and performance
but if you want to avoid the price tag, we’ll take down their shoe and harness
sizes and have their gear waiting for them on the desk before each session.
- Free 3 month membership pass ($175 value)
A membership card will allow the youth climber to come in on
any additional days they want and climb without having to pay for their day
pass, or wait in line to check-in.
Our program focuses on developing and improving climbing
ability, general fitness and confidence all while having a great time. The typical session begins with a general
warm up activity and group stretch followed by a lesson or demonstration of a
specific technique or topic.The climbers
then get their chance to apply the lesson, and do some climbing themselves,
while the instructors watch and give advice. The session often ends with an activity, challenge or game at the end,
followed by a warm-down and debrief.
This upcoming session we’ll be bringing in a few guest speakers
from the local climbing community and should be looking to begin some lessons
in the basics of lead climbing. At the
end of the program climbers will have the option of competing in a friendly
competition. As the program grows, we will be looking to start up a competitive
youth team and travel to out of town youth competitions.
Our program has a high instructor to student ratio with
plenty of one on one time. Our
instructors are strong experienced climbers; indoors and outdoors. We have competition experience in setting
routes, judging, forerunning, and competing at the highest levels. We’ve all had prior experience working with
kids of all ages. But above all, we have
an incredible passion for the sport and desire to see it grow.
To sign up we require a $100 non-refundable deposit, the
rest can be paid on the first day of the program. You can pay by visa or mastercard over the
phone or cash/debit/credit in person at the gym.If you have any questions you can email the
instructors at coyoteyouth@gmail.com
