Setting Clinics

After years of having people ask “So all you do in routesetting is bolt holds on the wall?”  our head setter Jody finally broke and started running some setting clinics.  After debating calling the clinic “So You Think You Can Do Better?”,  Jody decided on a less bitter  “Intro to Setting” title.  The first  clinics went over well, and there will be more to come as well as more advanced clinics in the future.  Expect to see such clinics as “Competition Setting: Just Like Regular Setting But Faster” and “Setting for Kids: No, You Don’t Just Add More Feet”

Intro to Setting Clinic

This clinic takes place over two sessions and is geared towards people who want to try their hand at setting or newer setters who would like some guidance.  Clinic includes but is not limited to:

  • Basic setting philosophy
  • The importance of safe, fun, fair climbs and how make them happen
  • Bolting holds, Hold selection, and Taping
  • Lots of actual setting
  • Critical review by Jody and other clinic goers
  • Spying on people who climb your problems to see what they actually think

If you’d like to be contacted first for the next clinic, send Jody an email or like the Coyote Rock Gym facebook page for announcements.
